Volume Up While Character is Down

A Few Friendly Members of The SQI Team

In today’s society, it often feels like anger and accusatory language are in style now. I yearn for a calming of the emotional sea and a rescinding of all vitriolic speech. To achieve this, we can start with a very simple principle: the proverbial “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This seemingly straightforward rule has become increasingly difficult to uphold over the past decade. If one truly strives to be honorable, decent, and good, then our thoughts, words, and actions must be filtered through this lens.

Imagine a world where everyone practiced this simple exercise—socially and in business. It would undoubtedly be a much better place. In the business realm, the “dog-eat-dog” mantra often gets more airtime, but my experiences tell a different story. I believe in achieving success through sincerity, respect for others’ positions, and a commitment to being a respectful problem solver with our customers.

Of course, there will be times when issues can’t be resolved due to irreconcilable differences. However, how you handle those disagreements is just as crucial as the attempt to resolve them. I’ve seen individuals succeed by being braggadocio and adopting questionable ethics, but that’s not the path I choose. Our society has its share of selfish individuals who prioritize getting ahead at any cost, often leaving a wake of destruction in their path. My conscience is like a strict teacher—unyielding and guiding me to uphold the values I was raised with.

At SQI Companies, we strive to build our business with these moral guardrails in place. Each day, we work hard to communicate better, continually improve our trade, and enhance the experiences of our business partners. By choosing integrity and respect, we aim to contribute positively to our industry and community.

"Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me."
